Elephants and Family Fun

Today we hid from the heat most of the day, but went out later this afternoon for some exercise at the zoo. The new elephant exhibit opened at the end of June, and we were able to check it out for the first time. Devun loved watching the elephant eat its hay with its trunk...

Devun then convinced Nate to play his favorite game - "chase me"...

Taking a break...

Looking up at the giraffes...

And of course we had to spend some time in the playground before the day was complete...

Nanton Rodeo

Yesterday we went to Nanton to watch Uncle Nolan and the Douglas Lake Team compete in the Medicine Tree Ranch Rodeo. Here is dad and Devun watching the action...

Auntie Kendra cheering on her soon-to-be husband...

Shots of the Douglas Lake team in action...

Devun loved all the action, horses and cowboys..

The Waterpark and the "Baby" BBQ

This past weekend was another fun-filled weekend. To try and cool down from the heat, we went to the waterpark on Saturday with Matt, Michelle, Jaina and Lewis. Devun and Jaina had a blast in the water. After all the fun in the water, we went to Matt and Michelle's house and enjoyed a great pizza dinner. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of this, so you'll have to trust me.

Then on Sunday we went to a BBQ with five of the families from our baby class. It was so neat to see how the kids had grown up as we all met when our bellies were about to burst in our last trimester, and now, they are no longer babies, but little boys and girls in the fun, energy packed toddler stage. Here are a few pictures from the bbq:

Here is Devun outside eating his hotdog and kraft dinner. The kids loved their menu, and us adults enjoyed home-made burgers...

Here are the three boys all playing with the magnets on the fridge. As you can tell, Devun is wearing his new Denver Bronco's jersey that daddy proudly got for him on his last trip to Denver...

Emma showed Devun her ball tent...

Devun loved the ball tent, but we quickly realized why we don't have one... After this picture was taken Devun, being a typical little boy, decided it would be fun to throw the balls out of the tent. One at a time wasn't really efficient as Emma would pick them up and throw them back in. Then Devun learned the "scoop" technique... At this point it took Emma, Emma's mom Brandy and myself to keep up with the balls coming out of the tent and throwing them back in. So Devun, being a little problem solver, realized that he could get out of the tent, pick it up and dump all the balls out of the door, and that is what he did... What a little monkey! Here is a picture of Devun with the biggest smile in the ball tent...

Ladders, Fences and Birthday Cake

After we got back from Edmonton, we picked up Nate from the airport and went to Uncle Jason and Auntie Jocelyn's to have a BBQ and some cake for Auntie Jocelyn's (belated) birthday...

As Grandpa and Uncle Jason were just doing finishing touches on Uncle Jason's fence, Nate helped out a little and Devun decided he wanted to help too...

He figured out it was much easier to climb without daddy in the way, we knew he loved climbing EVERYTHING, but now are much more aware of his abilities... HIDE ALL THE LADDERS!!!

We then took the ladder down and Devun was content to just walk the plank... back and forth. We were much happier with this new activity...

Devun had a great time playing with cousin Megan and gave her a big hug.. Unfortunately I wasn't fast enough with the camera, and this was taken a couple seconds after...

Canada Day with Uncle Ryan and Auntie Pamela

As Nate went to a wedding in Denver on the long weekend, Devun and I decided to go visit Uncle Ryan and Auntie Pamela in Edmonton. They took us to the park on Canada Day where we roasted wieners, marshmallows and Devun had a great time playing with them and trying to catch up with the ducks, geese and seagulls...

Here is a couple pictures of Devun and Uncle Ryan...

Here is Uncle Ryan checking out Devun's hat... I think he wants one too...

Devun blowing bubbles with Auntie Pam...

Auntie Pam helping Devun ride the horse in the playground...

Auntie Pamela and Devun playing with the beach ball... luckily Auntie Pam was able to keep it out of the lake...

Hopefully everybody else had a great Canada Day too...

Dr. Grandpa Olfert

At the end of June Grandpa Olfert received an award for the rural physician of the year. We all went out to the John Deere themed party in Drumheller. Here is Dr. Olfert and Agnes enjoying some of the entertainment...

Devun had a great time too...

Devun loved playing with the little John Deere tractors...

Cousin Megan was also dressed in her John Deere best...

Here is Uncle Jason and Megan dancing in their seats...

Congratulations again to Dr. Grandpa Olfert!!!
