Settling into Everyday Life

I can finally say that we are starting to feel settled. Although there are a few loose ends and unpacked boxes, we can fit both cars in the garage (the shelving units Nate built are wonderful), we are really enjoying our neighbors & our neighborhood, and we love taking advantage of the parks and beaches that surround us. We are also enjoying the friends that have been in the area and have visited us already and we are really looking forward to this coming weekend when Nate's parents come out to visit. Here are just a few random pictures of what's been going on in the Olfert household recently:

A Lakeside Wedding

This past weekend we went to our friends' wedding in Naramata, BC. Naramata is about 20 minutes north of Penticton, on the east side of Lake Okanagan. We had never been to Naramata and we were amazed by the breathtaking views of wineries and orchards. We had met Sean and Brandy in our prenatal class when I was pregnant with Devun, and a few of us have kept in touch regularly since then.

Here is Nate & Devun hanging out prior to the wedding:

Devun:

It was a beautiful day, with just enough breeze of the lake to keep everybody from melting from the heat:

A few of the couples (and us), who met at our prentatal class:

Devun enjoying the wedding cupcakes... or should I say eating the icing off of a wedding cupcake:

Although I put the camera away as darkness fell, Devun was on the dance floor until nearly 11pm, when he finally walked over to me, put up his hands and proceeded to rest his head on my shoulder with a quiet "mom, I'm tired." It was such a special day for Nate & I to spend with our friends and Devun, as a happy Katie had a pj party with her aunt and cousin in Kelowna.
