Devun is TWO!

I can't believe how the years fly by. Devun turned 2 today.

Devun was lucky enough to celebrate his birthday twice this year. Once when his Grandpa and Grandma Schultz were out last week, and again today with his Grandpa & Grandma Olfert and his Uncle Jason, Auntie Jocelyn & cousin Megan. Here are a couple pictures from both parties...

The Arrival of Katie Ella Olfert

We are very excited to announce the arrival of Katie Ella Olfert. She was born on December 10th, 2007 at 10:15 p.m. Katie weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19 inches long. Over 19 hours of labour and an unplanned c-section later, Kristie & Katie are now home safe, healthy and recovering. Here are a couple pictures:

Proud daddy Nate, big brother Devun and Katie:

We were very lucky that all four grandparents were able to come and meet Katie...

Our Christmas Tree

Today we put up a Christmas tree. We made a trip to the tree lot with our friends Shawn, Brandy and Bandit. After making our selections in the -20 degree cold, we headed to Starbucks to warm up with hot chocolates and gingerbread lattes... yum! This evening (after the tree thawed from its popsicle state) we decorated the tree... Now it's really starting to feel like Christmas!

It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas...

Today we attended Nate's company's kids Christmas party. Devun had a blast chasing around with the other kids. Although Devun would not go near Santa, he still got a present...

When we got home Devun helped Nate shovel the driveway...

Although it is -17 degrees outside, Devun had so much fun shoveling that he didn't even want to come inside. Hopefully this enthusiasm for shoveling the driveway lasts through his teen years!

More Fall Fun

Nate and I took a break from our crazy "to do" lists on Sunday and spent some time together as a family at the zoo. It was a wonderful day out and we had just as much fun playing in the leaves as we did checking out the animals...

After so much running around, Devun was very happy to be getting a lift from Daddy...

Hooray for Calgary Flames

Tonight we went to cheer on the Flames... It was a great game that ended in the Flames crushing the Edmonton Oilers! Hooray! Here are a couple of pictures of Devun with Daddy.

Welcoming the Fall

With the turning of the leaves comes... HOCKEY! Well in this household anyway... We took Devun to the Flames season opener last week and Devun had a blast. He could cheer & wave his flag with the rest of them (too bad the Flames came up short). Although I don't have pictures from the game... here is Devun the next morning still wearing his Flames t-shirt (which he would not take off) and waving his flag:

This morning Devun and I decided to take advantage of the cool crisp morning and go for a walk and enjoy the fallen leaves before the snow turns them to mush... Devun loved playing in the piles of leaves...

And what is a trip to the park without fun on the swing?

Or throwing some rocks in the river...

Devun was also very excited to see a squirrel. What a wonderful fall morning!

The Puddle & The Lion

Today Michelle and I took the kids to the zoo to enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Although the animals were fun as always, there were a couple things that Jaina and Devun found more fun... The lion statue and the puddle. Here's proof:

Moving and Chaos

I know I haven't posted for a while, but we've been busy with the move, the cleaning of the old house, the huge list of "to dos" for the new house and just trying to get organized while chasing a very rambunctious toddler around the house. We still have many boxes to unpack but are beginning to see progress. And doing all this while being 6 months pregnant is definitely overwhelming and very tiring. Devun has been a real trooper. He is slowly adjusting to the move, but it has been very obvious that it has been hard on him.

So far we love our new house in Okotoks, in fact one morning we woke up to a family of three deer outside our back window. It was so beautiful.

I hope to take some pictures and update the blog with photos of our new home soon!

Beautiful British Columbia & Wedding Bliss

We spent the past week in BC vacationing. The first weekend Nate's parents were able to join us and we went boating on Shuswap. Here are some of the highlights of the boat ride...

We then spend some time just relaxing at the cabin. Swimming, fishing, building retaining walls with benches and roasting hot dogs and s'mores over the fire were lots of fun. Wyona and Sadie then came to join us for a couple days and Devun and Sadie had a blast playing together!

After the relaxing it was time for wedding craziness at Douglas Lake Ranch. Although we had rain showers during the pictures, the weather was very cooperative for the wedding itself and the beautiful outdoor reception. Here are a couple pictures from the wedding, most of them courtesy of my wonderfully talented photographer sister-in-law, Janelle.

Devun Run Run Run!

Just too cute for words...

(FYI - there is sound too)

Busy Times

As with everybody else I talk to, the last couple weeks have been crazy busy. We currently have our house up for sale, unfortunately there is a record number of listings and not too many buyers out there... so we're keeping our fingers crossed that it sells on time. Also, Nate has been really busy climbing roofs for work looking for hail damage. Devun and I accompanied him a couple weeks ago to Medicine Hat and while Nate worked, Devun and I enjoyed the air conditioning and the pool at the hotel. This past weekend my sister Kendra and her soon-to-be husband Nolan came out to Calgary for a wedding and to visit. Then Nate, Devun and I went to Drumheller to spend some time with some of Nate's family from BC. Here are some pictures from the weekend:

Watching Grandma pick her raspberries...

Taking a break after running around the backyard with the soccer ball...

Looking for treasures in the grass with Daddy...

Grandma found a little skateboard in her raspberry bushes and Devun had a blast playing on it...
