Another fun day at the zoo...

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Calgary. Devun and I took advantage of it and went to the zoo! It was probably the most fun he's ever had there, as he is getting old enough to enjoy the animals. One of the first things we did was check out the new baby giraffe "Richard".


Devun really liked both the hippos & the fish inside the hippo tank:



Devun also discovered how fun it is to chase ducks. I then realized it is probably safer (for the ducks & Devun) to enjoy the ducks from the other side of 0f the fence.


The spider monkeys, a usual favorite, were having a group nap when we went to see them. However, Devun enjoyed looking at the other monkeys and even tried kissing one through the glass. Unfortunately I did not get a picture of that one.


Devun also had a great time exploring. Now that he's walking so well, he decided he wanted to check out everything from plants & bushes to old garbage that was uncovered from the melting snow. Devun is one of those kids who squat down to see everything, however, when he tries to go down to his hands & knees to take a closer look, he tends to flop on to his belly & kisses the ground. This is what happened when he tried to get a closer look at the mud puddle.


Mud & all, it was a great afternoon.

Hockey Day in Canada

Today was Hockey Day in Canada, as you can probably guess it's a big day in our house. Tonight we wrapped up the day watching the Flames beat the Oilers (again) at the Saddledome. After tonight's game, Nate & Devun were in a great mood as the Flames remained in first place in their division, while the Oilers remained dead last... ha, ha, ha...

Punk Rock with a Faux Hawk

Devun, inspired by his friend Wyatt, decided to be a little creative with his blonde locks... (with a little help from Auntie Janelle and mommy of course). Thank you Auntie Janelle for the great pictures!!!

Devun's First Word is... "HOCKEY"

Well, his first real word anyway... we're not counting the "ma", "da" or "uh-ohs" that have been part of his vocabulary for a couple months now.
Daddy is very proud. (He thinks he's living every Canadian dad's dream to have "hockey" as his child's first word.)
Devun started saying "hockey" a couple days ago every time he'd pick up one of his sticks. As you can see he also loves chasing the ball all over the floor, under the couches, dining table, and chairs with his hockey stick.
